WOOD WORKER

I’m a wood worker by trade so my toolbox and work bench are constantly cluttered with all kinds of cutting tools.  My wife is always nagging me about the condition of our garage – which just so happens to be the location of my workplace and office.  I admittedly don’t keep it in the condition that I probably should, but sloppiness aside, I wouldn’t be able to do my job without all of these tools.  To the average person one chisel looks the same as the next and the same goes for gouges and most saws, but virtually every custom job I take on requires the use of at least a few different cutting and shaping tools.  I don’t really know what made me decide to get into this line of work – the only mentor I had going into it, my shop teacher, had the same scars and ailments that most other people’s in high school had.  You would think that the fact that my only wood working role model was missing at least two fingers would have been enough to steer me into accounting and as far away from saws and chisels as possible, but now I really can’t imagine myself doing anything else.
