PERSONAL DECISION
Before considering how to file for bankruptcy, one should consider whether or not they should file for bankruptcy. It’s s serious personal decision that depends on how much is owed and whether or not the person can make the repayments or pay back the original debt. For one thing, no one should file bankruptcy to stop credit harassment. It might stop it temporarily, but creditors can find ways around that. Also, certain kinds of debts like alimony and student loans aren’t wiped out by filing for bankruptcy. Basically, filing for bankruptcy might not leave you any better off than you were before. And if it doesn’t, then why should you bother with it? There are other options. A person can work out something with their creditors or get some form of consumer credit counseling to help. Another option is to sell off some of your assets or consolidate all of your debts into a single loan. Again, it all depends on the person and his or her needs. Whichever option works the best is the one they should choose. The worst thing anyone can do in such a situation is panic and file bankruptcy or borrow more money or make some other impulsive decision instead of sitting back and thinking it all out.
