MISSING HER INCOME

My wife was recently laid off, probably about three to four months ago.  When she first told me, I thought that everything would work out fine, but she was denied unemployment and hasn’t been able to find a new job yet.  As it stands right now, we’re about as close as we can possibly be to being bankrupt without having actually filed the paperwork yet.  She has quite a few resumes floating around and an interview or two coming up this week, but if she doesn’t actually start bringing home some money soon we won’t have any other choice but to file for bankruptcy.  A few of the bills were a little late last month and our mortgage is due in less than a week and we don’t have nearly enough money in the checking account to cover the payment.  I had no idea that we were this close to the poverty line – my wife’s job didn’t pay that well.  When we got the news that they were letting her go I assured her that we would have no problems and to not worry about it at all, but we felt the impact of missing her income almost immediately.  I’m just going to be positive and hope that she’ll land one of the jobs that she’s interviewing for this week, and then everything should work itself out.
