KNOW IT ALL

My father basically defines the term “know-it-all.”  He’s a loudmouth who goes on and on about his opinion on any situation.  When watching baseball, he starts talking about how Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier when playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers back in the 1920s.  Actually, Jackie Robinson played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the late 1940s and 50s, but my father would have none of that.  He even claimed to have seen old film footage of Robinson playing back in the 1920s.  He was bigger than Babe Ruth back in his day, according to my dad.  When I told him there wasn’t much film footage back then, he said there was and that there were even commentators like there are today.  Mostly, it’s best to just let Dad sprout off about whatever he wants for as long as he wants and keep quiet.  Nothing I or anyone else says will convince him that he is wrong or that he needs to change his mind.  So generally it’s best if he just goes on about whatever he wants so long as he’s not bothering or offending anyone else.  Then someone has to step in and do something.  And that’s had to be me too often.
